CBRN Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a CBRN Specialist (Subject Matter Expert) to review and create AI‑generated content related to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear safety. This remote, hourly contractor role supports safe, accurate, policy‑aligned AI behavior.

Key responsibilities

• Review AI‑generated responses involving CBRN, hazardous‑material, emergency‑preparedness and public‑safety topics for technical accuracy, safety framing and guideline alignment.
• Flag outputs that provide dangerous procedural detail, weaponization support, unsafe lab guidance or other misuse‑enabling content.
• Create gold‑standard reference examples that answer benign CBRN queries responsibly while avoiding operationally dangerous instructions.
• Evaluate and rank model outputs based on risk framing, appropriate refusals, scientific accuracy and clarity.
• Detect hallucinated claims, incorrect hazard classifications, misleading risk statements and unsafe recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Public Health, Toxicology, Nuclear Engineering, Radiation Science, Emergency Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Biosecurity or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum C1 level English proficiency and 3+ years of professional experience in CBRN safety, emergency preparedness, hazardous‑materials handling, biosafety, radiation safety, public health or related security analysis.
• Strong understanding of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazard categories, exposure pathways, protective concepts and public‑safety communication.

Required skills

• Ability to evaluate CBRN‑related AI outputs for accuracy, safety, completeness and policy alignment.
• Familiarity with safety frameworks, emergency‑response concepts, biosafety levels, hazardous‑material communication, radiation protection principles and decontamination procedures.
• High attention to detail when reviewing terminology, units, risk levels, safety disclaimers and escalation guidance.
