About the role
The International Rescue Committee seeks a Burmese Interpreter to provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals across a variety of service settings. Work may be performed in‑person, by phone, video conference, or other virtual platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver professional interpretation for clients and service providers in clinics, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and government agencies.
- Track assignment details and work hours using designated software.
- Participate in trainings, assessments, and occasional special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- High school diploma strongly preferred; interpretation certification preferred.
- Prior professional interpretation experience, especially with refugee or immigrant populations, is a plus.
- Strong cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust with diverse clients.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written) and Burmese (spoken).
- Reliable transportation for field assignments.
Required skills
- Basic computer proficiency, particularly Microsoft Office.
