Blade Repair Engineer

About the role

Aerones is a robotics‑driven wind turbine maintenance company seeking a Blade Repair Engineer to join its Blade Repair & Operations Excellence team in Riga. You will work on‑site, supporting global turbine fleets by delivering high‑quality blade inspections, repairs and data‑driven improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site blade inspections, damage classification and documentation for commercial wind farms.
• Execute leading‑edge protection and ice‑phobic coating applications, including surface preparation and laminate systems.
• Develop repair scopes, cost estimates and corrective action plans based on inspection reports.
• Feed quality and failure‑pattern data into weekly operational reviews and board‑level reporting.

Required profile

• Degree in Materials, Mechanical or Composites Engineering or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience in wind turbine blade repair or inspection, preferably with an OEM or specialist service provider.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret QC data, identify failure patterns and propose engineering actions.

Required skills

• Blade damage assessment, classification and documentation standards.
• Leading‑edge protection and ice‑phobic coating application techniques.
• Quality control systems: NCR processes, root‑cause analysis (5‑Why, fishbone) and CAPA workflows.
• Cost estimation and scope‑of‑work definition for blade repairs.
• Familiarity with robotic or autonomous inspection/repair platforms.
• Rope‑access certification (IRATA/SPRAT) or extensive uptower work experience.
