Head of Engineering Pillar

About the role

Mintos is looking for a Head of Engineering Pillar to lead one of two domain pillars in its rapidly growing engineering organisation. You will partner closely with the CTO, a peer Head of Engineering Pillar and multiple Tech Leads to ensure the right people, processes and capacity are in place to deliver high‑stakes, regulated financial products.

Key responsibilities

• Manage 20‑30 engineers across backend, frontend, QA and test automation, organised into cross‑functional delivery teams.
• Own the full people‑management lifecycle: hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, career development, compensation inputs and difficult conversations.
• Allocate capacity across initiatives, re‑compose teams as projects start, scale and complete.
• Collaborate with Tech Leads on technical direction while focusing on people and organisational health.
• Build and evolve the engineering pillar function, establishing day‑to‑day practices, cadence and trust with engineering leaders.

Required profile

• Proven experience moving from individual contributor to people‑management roles in software engineering.
• Strong ability to read technical specifications (RFCs), challenge architectural decisions and assess estimates.
• Track record of scaling engineering teams in a regulated, high‑impact environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with senior technical and product leaders.
