About the role
We are seeking an OSS Automation Engineer to join our international engineering organization focused on advanced connectivity and network infrastructure solutions. The role is based in our Latvia engineering centre and will own the lifecycle automation of network and ground‑segment services, turning manual processes into governed, automated workflows.
Key responsibilities
- Build, develop, and deploy internal automation processes within the OSS platform, including provisioning, configuration management, fault and alarm handling, cross‑domain orchestration, and system integration.
- Translate architectural specifications, Interface Control Documents, and functional/non‑functional requirements into clean, well‑tested, production‑ready code.
- Write modular, maintainable software following team coding standards, with appropriate documentation and comments.
- Implement and maintain integration tests, regression suites, and performance benchmarks for developed components.
- Participate in design and code reviews, providing and receiving constructive technical feedback.
- Support system‑level integration testing to ensure delivered software meets defined acceptance criteria.
- Contribute to agile delivery processes, including sprint planning, backlog hygiene, and milestone commitments.
- Maintain technical documentation such as component specifications, API contracts, test results, and operational runbooks.
- Engage with internal engineering and operational teams to clarify requirements, validate assumptions, and ensure solutions meet operational needs.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 3 + years of professional experience in network or business‑process automation within a live‑network operational environment.
- English proficiency at B2 level or above, enabling effective collaboration in a globally distributed team.
Required skills
- Python or Go programming for automation and integration logic.
- Experience with Temporal, Apache Airflow, or AWS Step Functions for workflow orchestration.
- Network configuration automation tools such as Ansible, Netmiko, NAPALM, or vendor‑specific APIs.
- Event‑driven integration using Kafka and Protobuf.
- Working knowledge of AWS fundamentals (EC2, Lambda, Step Functions, MSK, VPN/Transit Gateway).
- Instrumentation of automation using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- REST, gRPC, and TMF Open APIs.
- Version control and CI tools: Git, Azure DevOps CI, Jira, Confluence.
