Health Navigator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a dedicated Health Navigator to coordinate medical, dental, and mental health services for refugee clients. The role ensures timely access to care, helps clients establish a primary care home, and supports them in navigating the U.S. healthcare system.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate the selection of a primary care physician (PCP) and schedule initial appointments.
• Provide transportation assistance and independence training for medical visits.
• Resolve billing issues and coordinate insurance coverage with providers.
• Assist with urgent medication needs, prescription refills, and affordable eyeglass acquisition.
• Maintain accurate hard‑copy and electronic case files in compliance with reporting standards.
• Participate in program meetings, staff development, and other assigned duties while upholding client confidentiality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field (preferred).
• Familiarity with the U.S. healthcare system and low‑income health programs (strongly preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in human services, preferably with refugee or immigrant populations.
